Abstract: Studies show that there is a significant relationship between digital games and the mobilization of metacognitive learning strategies. In order to integrate these artifacts into the curriculum of higher education courses, studies are needed to analyze which elements are relevant. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the profile characteristics of university gamers in relation to metacognitive strategies. The research methodology used was ex post factowith a quantitative approach. A total of 641 students from a Brazilian public university took part in the study. Data was collected using the online Inventory of Cognitive and Metacognitive Strategies with Digital Games (ICMSDG). The results show the profile of university gamers in relation to metacognitive strategies, which helps teachers to adopt these artifacts. Time, type of game and age group are significant elements in outlining the profile.
